
MELBOURNE, 4-5 March 2024 – A Maritime Security Conference was held in Melbourne, Australia on 4 March 2024 under the umbrella of the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit 2024 in commemoration of Australia being ASEAN's first dialogue partner since 1974.
The Keynote Addresses for the Conference were delivered by Senator the Honorable Penny Wong, Australia's Foreign Minister and The Honorable Enrique Manalo, Philippines' Foreign Secretary.
Ms Noorhazwani Ariffin, Acting Assistant Director of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies, joined the Conference, which, among others, explored key maritime themes identified in the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific, ASEAN Maritime Outlook, and ASEAN Blue Economy Framework, bringing together officials and non-governmental experts, with the overarching objective to enhance practical maritime cooperation in the region.
