​Tuesday, 12 July 2022 -- In conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha 1443 Hijrah celebration, the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies (SHHBIDSS) and Directorate of Personnel had the privilege to jointly organise Qurbani (Korban) event for the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) at the Surau Ad-Difa, Bolkiah Garrison this afternoon.

This year, 51 participants including officers and personnel of MINDEF and RBAF, as well as their family members took part in the "Qurban/Aqiqah", in which a total of ten buffaloes, one cow and three goats were sacrificed. The sacrificial meats were donated to 185 MINDEF and RBAF guests, as well as 65 selected asnaf recipients from Mukim Berakas A, namely Burong Pingai Berakas Village, Jaya Bakti Village, Jaya Setia Village, Lapangan Terbang Lama Area, Delima Satu Village, Serusop Village, Anggerek Desa Village, Pancha Delima Village, Pulaie Village and Orang Kaya Besar Imas Village.

Brigadier General (Retired) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Razak bin Haji Abd. Kadir, Deputy Minister of Defence and Major General Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, RBAF Commander were invited to distribute the sacrificial meats to the guests and asnaf recipients. Acting Permanent Secretary, Joint Force Commander, Deputy Permanent Secretaries, as well as, officers and personnel from MINDEF and RBAF also helped in distributing the sacrificial meats.  

SHHBIDSS was honoured with the humbling experience to host the Qurbani event for the ministry this year, as it was not only seen as an Islamic ritual, but also commemorates the ultimate sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) in accordance to the wish of Allah SWT. The exposure has been very enriching and further instilled obedience, devotion and gratitude in fulfilling our daily duties to Allah SWT.
